Does your organization produce catalogs, directories, retail ads, or print-on-demand documents? Well, they all have one thing in common: data drives their content. Years ago, AppleScripts were used to populate QuarkXPress pages automatically. Now, most graphics and publishing workflows leverage Adobe InDesign's ability to import XML and format it on the fly. This is Winderup's world of data and graphics.

Catalogs

Catalogs

Do you have product descriptions, SKUs, and prices stored in a database or Excel? Do you have your press-quality product images to match? Well, using XML, scripting, and maybe InDesign's own tagging, we can create a custom process that'll build your catalog pages in a blink of an eye. That's right, with some planning, your text and images can be matched up and imported into documents ready for printing.

Directories

Directories

Like catalogs, directories often start out as data in a database or an Excel document. Using XML, scripting, and maybe InDesign's own tagging, we can create a custom process that'll build your directory pages in a blink of an eye. Unlike catalogs, directories usually have layouts which are less complex and call for fewer images. This makes the entire process much simpler.

Retail Ads

Retail Ads

Retail Ads are more challenging than they sound. Like catalogs, planning is required to coordinate data and images with the layout. But Retail Ad production also ads the additional complexity of price and product versioning, which tailor ad issues to particular competitive or market challenges. Then there's the last minute price changes which require the ad and its versions to be updated as quickly and accurately as possible. Winderup knows how to meet these challenges in a way that'll fit your workflow.

Keep it in-house

If your workflow must remain entirely in-house, we can help design or refine your workflow. We can document procedures and write scripts to automate where possible.

Looking for a partner

Sometimes it makes more sense to work with a partner who can perform certain steps of your production process. We have worked this way for several clients over the years, from freelance artists to large corporations.

Outsource it all

If you have the data and need someone to produce the documents for you, we'll do that too. Just contact us to discuss your project and we'll be happy to provide a quote.
